City Map

This was one of the original pages for the city map, which will recommend places for people to relax and escape. The Google Map image was just a placeholder for me to focus on the overall contents of the book.

It was originally planning to do separate map pages for north, east, south, west and central Bristol; however, this quickly changed to north-east, north-west, central, south-west, and south-east as I started creating a colour system for these map sections.

I thought it would be helpful to show the reader the Bristol map as a whole so they can see how the areas are divided. Colours were inspired by the colourful Clifton buildings.

The map sections were enlarged across a double spread and I started to play with one of my concepts of changing the way the reader interacts with the book.

I decided to take the whole map section out to allow all maps to fit onto a double page, but I might need to think about how I am going to label the areas.

Thinking of how crowded the map would be if I were to label the areas and recommended places, I added the whole map of bristol back into the book with a page explaining its purpose. I was originally going the draw illustrations onto the map showing cycle lanes and parks (I probably could still do this), hhowever, I thought it would be best to highlight key areas through photographs, which will be labeled by name of place.

Future Data Collection

If I attach a QR code for a specific survey, how long do I wait until I am able to collect all the data? Would I need to renew this survey on a yearly basis?
An Exhibition - maps can be painted onto walls and people could put a post-stick-note on them with recommendations of places to go.
